Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Jose, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. San Jose is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Jose is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We are always look for new sushi experiences and stumbled upon Blue Pagoda. We went with the omakase menu for the four of us and were very impressed. Quite a different flavor profile from other other omakase menus we have tried in the Bay Area. Bold flavors with very high quality ingredients. The meal started off with several appetizers and a warm dish first before moving into the nigiri. It then wrapped with a miso soup and tempura fish preparation. It wrapped with a light dessert. We also had the option to add additional nigiri. Excellent service and a comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Great first time omakase for my son. Came for a differentiated birthday dinner and didnβt disappoint. Pros: - decent quality fish - nice presentation, w constant flow of food: once one dish was complete, the next came out - service was great: our waiter was super friendly, funny, informative, almost like a tour guide; drinks came out fast. The guy sweeping the table of the used dishes was on it; I like when they scan your card for the bill they look away (almost totally hiding their head) when u input in the tip like βoh no, pls donβt let me see that!β - almost just right portions: we left full after ordering 2 more hand rolls for my teenage son (who burns thru food like a molten cauldron) - Relaxed but still classy vibe: I was worried about the strip mall it was located in and the barebones external decor. But inside was touched up. - they say (or the late Anthony Bourdain onve said) you can tell a lot about a place based on the care they take in the bathroom => Blue Pagoda seems to be taking care well here! Considerations: - Price: the final bill did shock my son a bit but for omakase I think it was market or actually on the more reasonable end: I think it was calibr

Blue Pagodaβs omakase is pretty decent, nothing fancy. Fish was alright, rice on pointβroom temp with that nice vinegar kick. Spot has a relaxed, unpretentious vibe, solid value compared to other Bay Area omakase. Staff friendly but not wow. Nothing screams Michelin, but itβs a casual omakase experience. Good sushi fix. π

I had such a wonderful evening at Blue Pogoda celebrating my birthday! The service was incredibly thoughtful β the staff took the time to explain each dish in detail, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was also fantastic, with friendly guests and a warm, welcoming vibe. The food was truly outstanding. The chef from Osaka demonstrated exceptional skill, and every dish was delicious. Iβve had the chance to experience a Michelin two-star omakase in Japan before, and I can confidently say this place is on a very impressive level. If you visit, I highly recommend sitting at the counter (chefβs table) for the full experience. If I had to rate it out of 10, I would definitely give it a 10/10. Highly recommended!

We came to Blue Pagoda to celebrate our anniversary, and it was truly such a special experience. Everything was wonderful β the hospitality, service, atmosphere, and food were all exceptional. You can really feel the personal touch in every detail, from the warm welcome to the beautiful food presentation. It made the whole evening feel memorable and special. My wife and I genuinely enjoyed everything, and it was clear that a lot of care and heart went into creating this place. Iβve known the owners for years and have always admired how much passion they put into everything they do β and Blue Pagoda is another beautiful example of that. Highly recommend for a date night, celebration, or just a really great dining experience. Weβll definitely be back!
